1 Cor 12

Follow up Message from Derek:

"As I listened to my message from Sunday to evaluate my delivery, I realized that I worded something incorrectly. Please allow me to correct this.

At 9 minutes 12 seconds in the podcast (link below), I state that you can tell if the person HAS the Holy Spirit by what they do and say. This is an inaccurate statement and not what I believe or meant to say.

It should have been said that “you can tell if a person is acting and speaking in agreement with the Holy Spirit by what they say and do”

A person can have the Holy Spirit and be a child of God and, at the same time, have areas of their life where they are walking and talking in agreement with the enemy.

Matthew 16 is proof of this and a clear example when Jesus is having a discussion with Peter. At one point, Jesus acknowledged what Peter said and that it was known to Peter by the Holy Spirit. At yet another point in that conversation, Jesus said “Get Behind me, Satan” when Peter was agreeing with the enemy. Both kingdoms were at work in the same man of God. Jesus continued to love Peter while dealing with those two opposing kingdoms.

This process of aligning ourselves with the kingdom of God is a lifelong process and should be our primary goal and passion in life.

We will extend to others the same grace and love that we expect and need on our own personal journeys.

The illustration done with the kids doesn’t come across to well on the podcast,

so here is a link if you want to see it:

Please feel free to always to constructively speak up if you have a input, concern or question about anything that is ever communicated. As was stressed in the message, we need each other!

Remember to look in the mirror this week and remind yourself God has placed incredible value in you, imperfect as you are, to serve and help people in their walk with God! Likewise, remind yourself that God will also meet your needs in some way through the imperfect people around you! Look for it!

As you review 1 Corinthians 12, keep an eye out for how your thoughts and heart motivate you in ways like these. Be bold. Walk in love. God will add power and anointing to your words and actions as you function in your own special ability from the Spirit. The kingdom of God depends on YOU!

We are designed to do more than survive; we are designed to thrive!"
